The Scientific Council of RISEBA University is a collegial body of RISEBA scientists and researchers. The Council manages and coordinates scientific and research activities at RISEBA. The Council is responsible for defining the priority directions of RISEBA’s scientific activities, planning and coordinating the scientific work of academic staff and students, promoting international scientific cooperation, evaluating and summarising the research results.

From the 2009/2010 study year, RISEBA University has a Promotion Council in the field of economics and business science, which consists of experts in the relevant field of science from several universities recognised by the Latvian Council of Science.

The Promotion Council of RISEBA University works in the field of economics and business science. Its activities are regulated by the Promotion Council Regulations, the Law on Scientific Activity, Cabinet Regulation No. 1001 of 27.12.2005 “Procedures and Criteria for the Conferral of a Doctoral Degree in Science” and Cabinet Regulation No. 1000 of 27.12.2005 “On Delegation of Powers to Confer the Doctoral Degree (Promotion) to Higher Education Institutions”.

The Doctoral Council accepts doctoral theses for examination, aligns the academic performance of the degree candidate with the requirements of the doctoral programme, evaluates doctoral theses, ensures the public defence of doctoral theses and the award of the degree, and provides a post-defence procedure.

The Professors’ Council is established for the election of professors and associate professors, in accordance with the Law on Higher Education Institutions of the Republic of Latvia. Elections of professors and associate professors in the RISEBA, BA and VeA Joint Professors’ Council in economics and business, including in the field of business management science, take place in accordance with the Law on Higher Education Institutions and the Regulations of Higher Education Institutions on the Election of Academic Staff. The Professors’ Council is established for five years in accordance with the list of branches and sub-branches of science approved by the Latvian Council of Science. The Professors’ Council is approved by the Council of Higher Education. The members of the Professors’ Council shall be approved by the Senates of each University. The Professors’ Council is the successor of the Professors’ Council of the three universities – RISEBA University of Applied Sciences, BA School of Business and Finance and Ventspils University Of Applied Sciences.

On 11 April 2023, with the opinion of the Council of Higher Education No. 1.10/08, the Joint Professors’ Council of RISEBA University of Applied Sciences, BA School of Business and Finance and Ventspils University Of Applied Sciences has been approved in the field of Economics and Business, incl. Management Sciences, with the following composition:
