This programme helps students develop the skills and knowledge that they need to be successful in the fast-growing startup industry: the ability to spot innovations (unrealised business ideas or technological solutions) that can be applied on a large scale (so that the new business idea can be implemented anywhere in the world). A large part of the courses of the study programme “Start-up Economics and Finance” deal with such topics as innovation management, creative economy and business, international marketing and scaling, business English – Cambridge (BEC), etc.

Students learn the courses of the programme in theoretical lectures, interactive activities, group sessions and practical situations that result in the creation of their own start-up. The study programme is developed in cooperation with industry professionals (Latvian Business Angel Network “LatBAN”, start-up community platform “Labs of Latvia”, “Altum”, etc.), as well as with the company “Printful” (known as Latvia’s first unicorn), highlighting the latest trends in economics, business and the labour market. The study programme is devised in accordance with the international institute ICAEW, which provides an opportunity to acquire an international ACA certificate (Consultant in Strategic Corporate Development). In this programme, a student also learns the main skills related to business management: financial planning, marketing management and human resources management.
