The Assistant Professor Dr. Jans Kevišs-Petuško from RISEBA University of Applied Sciences Awarded Diploma of Recognition by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia

On March 4th, assistant professor at RISEBA University, diplomat, and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Latvia in France, Dr. Jans Kevišs-Petuško, was awarded a Diploma of Recognition by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia for his significant contribution to strengthening the bilateral political and economic relations between Latvia and France. On behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the certificate was presented by the Ambassador of Latvia to France, H.E. Mrs Alise Balode.

Dr. Jans Kevišs-Petuško has been teaching at RISEBA University since 2018. His most taught subjects include “Introduction to International Politics”, “European Political and Economic Development” and “Economic Diplomacy.” In the field of scientific research, Dr. Kevišs-Petuško focuses on contemporary education issues, including job-education mismatch of university graduates.

The award-winning Dr. Jans Kevišs-Petuško lectures in two study programmes: European Business Studies and Business Management.

  • European Business Studies offers in-depth knowledge of the European business environment, focusing on strategic management, international relations, and innovation. The programme combines academic knowledge with practical skills to prepare students for high-level roles in international organizations and companies. Students gain a strong understanding of the European Union’s business policies and economy, and they also have the opportunity to earn a double degree through the program’s partnerships with foreign partner universities in France, Finland and Germany.
  • Business Management provides a deep understanding of modern business management. The programme covers economics, financial management, marketing, logistics, and management sciences, with a particular emphasis on digital technologies and e-business solutions. Students have the opportunity to specialize in business management or the digital domain. This programme also offers the possibility of obtaining a double degree in collaboration with Haaga Helia University of Applied Sciences in Finland, as well as opportunities for internships and live business simulations, which help develop essential leadership skills.

Dr. Jans Kevišs-Petuško has been working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia since 2006. Over the course of his career, he has served at the Embassy of Latvia in Poland and is currently based at the Embassy of Latvia in France, where he holds the position of Deputy Head of Mission. He has also been the leading expert in negotiations regarding the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027 and the economic recovery package “NextGenerationEU”. Both instruments contribute directly and significantly to Latvia’s economic growth and resilience.

Dr. Jans Kevišs-Petuško has received several awards from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Cabinet of Ministers, and a State award. In 2016, he was awarded the Diploma of Recognition from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for his significant contribution to strengthening the Republic of Latvia. In 2020, he received the Diploma of Recognition from the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia for his contribution to the negotiations on the EU Multiannual Budget and the “Next Generation EU”. Additionally, in 2020, Dr. Kevišs-Petuško was awarded the State award, the Cross of Recognition, for his highly professional and selfless performance of duties during the Covid-19 crisis in the spring of 2020, during which he implemented the largest repatriation operation in Latvia’s history, as well as ensuring necessary transportation flows, particularly in the area of critical goods deliveries.
