The most modern study environment for Latvian students – RISEBA has made a significant investment in supporting the media studies process.
Since September 23, RISEBA University students have access to a new, modern multimedia technology-equipped computer lab. Over €120,000 has been invested in its creation, making it one of the largest investments in media education technical infrastructure among Latvia’s private universities.
In the new learning space, students from RISEBA’s Faculty of Media and Creative Technologies and the Faculty of Architecture and Design now have access to 25 workstations, each equipped with the latest-generation Apple Mac Studio M2 computers, high-quality monitors, multimedia equipment, and an optical network.
With this modern and powerful equipment, students can create high-quality multimedia content. The new monitors provide precise and nuanced content representation, ensuring accurate color calibration. The space is equipped with a multi-channel sound system utilizing Marantz Soundun and Acoustic Energy technologies, enhanced by professional acoustic insulation, and a high-resolution laser projection system.
This allows RISEBA media arts students to gain hands-on experience with the technologies widely used in the film and TV industries during their studies, developing the skills needed to succeed not only in the Latvian media market but internationally as well.
Valters Kaže, RISEBA’s Vice-Rector for Science and Development, commented: “This project clearly demonstrates that we are a technology university not just on paper. This investment is part of RISEBA’s development strategy. We are committed to ensuring that students have the opportunity to work with the best equipment. This is just the first step—we are keeping up with the times, changing the study environment, and evolving ourselves. In the near future, we plan significant investments in both cybersecurity and artificial intelligence technologies, creating new opportunities for our students, faculty, and researchers.”
More than €120,000 has been invested in the new computer lab from RISEBA’s digitalization program, which is part of the university’s strategic plan. The goal of this program is to strengthen RISEBA’s study environment as a competitive international university of applied sciences, ensuring students acquire the knowledge and skills that will be in demand in the future job market.
Technology and RISEBA have traditionally gone hand in hand. In planning its future, the university has also set its sights on creating an Artificial Intelligence (AI) lab. RISEBA has been involved in AI solutions development since 2018 as a research partner in innovative AI projects. “We embrace the opportunities offered by AI, apply them in practice, and promote their use in the study and research process. As a modern university, we utilize new technologies rather than resist them,” emphasized Valters Kaže.
“We provide students with excellent theoretical knowledge, a modern study environment, and the necessary tools—helping them apply their knowledge in practice. Right now, we can confidently say that our technical equipment meets the needs of today’s students 100%,” added Aigars Ceplītis, Director of the Master’s Program in New Media and Audiovisual Arts, RISEBA lecturer, and researcher.
RISEBA University of Business, Arts, and Technology is a private university with more than 30 years of experience. RISEBA offers competitive education, preparing high-level specialists and leaders in the fields of business and creative industries. Currently, nearly 2,300 students are studying at the university, including 102 in architecture programs and 183 in audiovisual arts. These students now have the opportunity to gain new knowledge using the most modern technologies.
