RISEBA Students Develop New Year’s Eve Event Concepts in Collaboration with Radisson Blu Latvija Conference & Spa Hotel

On June 9, students of the Event Management course within the Public Relations programme at RISEBA concluded their final examination by presenting New Year’s Eve event concepts developed in collaboration with Radisson Blu Latvija Conference & Spa Hotel. Throughout the course, students had the opportunity to gain practical experience at one of Latvia’s most recognizable hospitality industry companies.

During the collaboration, students became familiar with the working environment of the hospitality industry and the operations of the hotel’s Conference and Events Centre. They researched the hotel’s clientele and the needs, interests, and expectations of potential New Year’s Eve event attendees in order to develop engaging event concepts tailored to the target audience. A significant contribution to the students’ learning experience was provided by Jānis Priede, Sales and Marketing Department Manager, who introduced students to the hotel’s operating principles, the work of the Conference and Events Centre, and the importance of understanding client needs when developing successful events.

Particular emphasis was placed on practical work. Students were given the creative freedom to develop an event from the initial idea through to a detailed implementation concept. As part of the project, they created communication and marketing strategies, planned promotional activities, prepared budget calculations, and developed the event’s visual concept and programme of activities. This approach provided students with valuable hands-on experience in event management processes and a deeper understanding of full-cycle event planning within a real business environment.

Working on the project enabled students to develop their creativity, teamwork skills, and ability to adapt ideas to real business needs. It also provided an opportunity to gain insight into the hospitality industry from the perspective of industry professionals and to apply the knowledge acquired during their studies in a practical setting.

The Public Relations and Advertising Communication programme at RISEBA expresses its gratitude to the team at Radisson Blu Latvija Conference & Spa Hotel for their responsiveness and involvement in making this collaboration possible. Special thanks are extended to the company for accepting the course lecturer’s invitation to collaborate with students and for providing such a valuable practical learning experience.

Special appreciation is also extended to Jānis Priede for his support, responsiveness, and contribution to the success of this collaboration. His involvement and willingness to share industry expertise gave students the opportunity to work on a real business assignment and gain valuable insight into a professional working environment.

The collaboration between RISEBA University of Applied Sciences and Radisson Blu Latvija Conference & Spa Hotel once again demonstrates the importance of cooperation between higher education institutions and industry partners. Such partnerships provide students with opportunities to enhance their professional skills, gain practical experience, and develop an understanding of international-level working environments and professional standards within the hospitality industry.
