Professor Abele has been selected as a judge at the Olympic Games in figure skating

Professor Agita Abele, a lecturer in the RISEBA master’s programme Sports Management, has been chosen as one of the figure skating judges who will be holding figure skating competitions at the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.
From February 4 to 20 this year, Professor Abele will participate in the provision of this year’s Winter Olympics as a judge. Deniss Vasiljevs will represent Latvia in figure skating in Beijing, for which it will be the second Olympic start in figure skating (a total of 57 athletes in 11 sports have been approved by the Latvian delegation).
Agita Abele is the only judge of the highest category of the International Skating Union (ISU) in Latvia in individual and pair skating. At the Olympic Games, he will test two disciplines – men’s skating, as well as men’s team skating.
Abele obtained the ISU highest category judge certificate in 2013. She has judged at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyongyang (South Korea), several times at the World and European Figure Skating Championships, and at the Second World Youth Winter Olympics in Lillehammer (Norway).
