Shaping Youth Democracy Across Europe With OUR VOICE

Shaping Youth Democracy Across Europe With OUR VOICE

Planning Together in Reykjavík!

OUR VOICE is an Erasmus+ project officially launched on November 1, 2024, with the aim of promoting active democratic participation among young people across Europe. The project brings together partners from Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Sweden, and Turkey, and focuses on developing inclusive, interactive tools that empower youth to understand and engage with democratic systems.

Since the Kick-Off in Ireland
Following our inspiring first in-person meeting in Ireland in November 2024, our international team has been hard at work creating accessible educational resources that combine digital innovation with civic learning. These tools are being designed to spark curiosity, build communication skills, and encourage young people to speak up and shape their future.

Transnational Project Meeting in Reykjavík: 21–22 May 2025
We’re excited to meet again for our second Transnational Project Meeting, taking place in Reykjavík, Iceland. Over two days, the partners will:

  • Share updates on the interactive learning modules and pedagogical guide
  • Plan the upcoming pilot phase and outreach activities
  • Collaborate on the design of the hybrid workshops
  • Strengthen cross-cultural dialogue and teamwork through in-person exchange

Why OUR VOICE?
In today’s fast-changing world, many young people feel disconnected from democratic institutions. Research shows that only 40% of young people and 46% of educators believe current educational systems offer adequate understanding of how democracy functions—locally, nationally, and at the European level.

To close this gap, OUR VOICE is creating:

  • Five interactive learning modules focusing on digital communication, current challenges, civic engagement, and the EU
  • A pedagogical guide to support educators
  • A series of hybrid workshops and a Pan-European Youth Conference

Piloting Starts This Summer
This summer, we will begin pilot testing our learning modules in Iceland, Latvia, Sweden, and Turkey. A total of 60 young people and 12 educators will participate, providing vital feedback to help shape inclusive, impactful, and accessible final outputs. These materials will be published in multiple languages and made freely available across Europe.
