RIXARCH 2026 Conference Concluded

On 1 April, the international architecture conference RIXARCH 2026 took place in Riga, bringing together industry professionals, academics, policymakers and entrepreneurs from Latvia and abroad.

This year’s conference focused on the theme “liv_IN”, addressing contemporary challenges and opportunities of living—from housing affordability and quality to sustainable and inclusive urban development. The programme explored multiple scales, from the individual dwelling to urban infrastructure, highlighting quality of living as a key aspect of future development.

Throughout the day, lectures, panel discussions and conversations examined current challenges and proposed solutions grounded in international experience and research. The conference served as an important platform for interdisciplinary collaboration, fostering dialogue between architects, urban planners, developers, representatives of the financial sector and public institutions.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the conference speakers for their contribution to the programme and their insightful presentations – Jonas Büchel, Stefan Kurath, Markus J. Appenzeller and Michael Swiszczowski – as well as to all panellists and moderators.

We also thank our partners and supporters for their trust and contribution to the realisation of the conference, and every participant for their active engagement and valuable discussions.

RIXARCH 2026 once again demonstrated that meaningful dialogue across disciplines is essential for the development of a sustainable and human-centred urban environment.
