RISEBA Students Short Films to Be Screened at the “… glāzi kino, lūdzu!” Open-Air Film Festival
This summer, the “… glāzi kino, lūdzu!” open-air short film festival will visit Latgale and Sēlija, featuring the work of two RISEBA students.
The festival aims to introduce audiences to emerging filmmakers and give people in the regions an opportunity to enjoy high-quality, diverse and original Latvian cinema beyond the capital.
📍 21 August – Balvi
RISEBA student Valters Kalniņš’s short film “Vieta, kur apstājas laiks” (“A Place Where Time Stands Still”) will be screened.
The film explores the balance between peace and chaos, self-discovery, loneliness and nature. It invites viewers to interpret what they see for themselves – there is no linear narrative or definitive ending, while the sounds of nature and the city take the place of dialogue.
📍22 August – Daugavpils
RISEBA student Evelīna Stalidzāne’s short film “Krāsainā asinsrite” (“The Colourful Circulation”) will be screened.
At the age of 40, the film’s protagonist, Ainārs, finds himself caught between two worlds — the carefree nature of youth and the responsibilities of adulthood. The film asks: how can we remain true to ourselves in a world that constantly reminds us that it is time to grow up?
