RISEBA Students Participate in the International Erasmus+ Project “Our Voice”
In December 2025, RISEBA students, together with young people from several European countries, took part in the Erasmus+ project “Our Voice”, aimed at strengthening young people’s understanding of democracy and their active engagement within their communities.
The first day of the programme was dedicated to learning about democratic processes in Latvia. Participants visited Riga City Council (Rīgas dome), where they had the opportunity to meet the Chair of the City Council, Viesturs Kleinbergs. He shared insights on municipal decision-making, youth participation, and the practical role democracy plays in shaping the city’s development.
The group then continued to the National Library of Latvia, discovering how access to knowledge and culture supports the growth of an informed and democratic society. The day ended with intercultural activities that helped strengthen team spirit and set a positive tone for the project.
On the second day, students took part in an intensive workshop, “Becoming Actively Involved in Our National Democracy”, which guided them through practical tasks, discussions and reflections on their role in supporting democratic life. Participants developed an “Active Citizen Portrait”, explored their motivations and challenges, and created personal micro-action plans to implement in their own countries and communities.
The project offered valuable international experience while helping young people build critical thinking, collaboration skills, and a deeper understanding of how democracy can be strengthened through small but meaningful everyday actions.
We are very proud of our students’ active involvement and we actively continue to support initiatives that promote civic competence and international cooperation among young people.
