International Speakers at the RIXARCH Conference | April 1

The international architecture and design conference RIXARCH will bring together architects, urban planners, and industry experts from across Europe to discuss contemporary urban development, sustainable architecture, and the future of living environments.

This year’s conference will feature six internationally recognised professionals delivering keynote lectures, whose work spans architecture, urban planning, sustainability, and socially responsible urban development.

Markus J. Appenzeller – architect and urban planner, co-founder of the international architecture and planning practice mla+. His professional work includes large-scale urban planning projects across Europe, Asia, and other regions of the world, alongside an active academic career in architectural education.

Jonas Büchel – lecturer at the University of Latvia and guest lecturer at the RISEBA Faculty of Architecture and Design, focusing on cultural planning, participatory methodologies, and co-creative processes in urban development. He is also a co-founder of the Urban Institute and has been involved in several urban development initiatives in Latvia.

Line Thorup Schultz – Head of Transformative Partnerships at VELUX, where she develops cross-sector collaborations within the construction industry. She is closely involved in the internationally recognised Living Places project in Copenhagen, which demonstrates innovative approaches to sustainable and healthy living environments.

Ted Schauman and Jonas Nordgren – co-founders of Schauman & Nordgren Architects, an architecture and urban design studio based in Copenhagen and Helsinki that focuses on sustainable and inclusive urban environments.

Stefan Kurath – architect, urban planner and professor at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), as well as the founder of the architecture and urban planning practice urbaNplus. His research and professional work focus on the architecture of the 21st-century city.

Michael Swiszczowski – Group Board Director at Chapman Taylor (UK), specialising in residential architecture projects, including Build-to-Rent, student accommodation, and hospitality developments.

The conference will bring together architecture and urban planning professionals, researchers, and students, creating a platform for discussions on sustainable and human-centred urban development.
