The final presentations for the RISEBA course Interior Design have successfully concluded!

As part of the course, students developed interior design concepts for a real client – the World Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art (PLMC) in Cēsis. Before beginning their projects, the students, together with their lecturers, visited the PLMC premises to explore the space and its potential, gaining a deeper understanding of the centre’s needs and its cultural and historical context.

The aim of the assignment was to create spatial and functional design solutions that would support the continued development of PLMC as a multifunctional cultural institution. Students proposed ideas for the enhancement of collection spaces, the improvement of public and collaborative areas, increased accessibility, more sustainable operations, and the activation of the site’s full potential.

The projects were evaluated by a diverse panel of professionals, including architects, interior designers, PLMC representatives and RISEBA academic staff. The jury included Chicago-based award-winning architect and designer Obi Nwazota, Henriete Brazovska, Head of HL Dizains, architect Raitis Jelevics, PLMC Chief Curator Kārlis Kanderovskis, PLMC Director Zīle Liepiņa, as well as RISEBA representatives Rudolfs Dainis Šmits, Anna Oļha and Eva Staņeviča. Joining remotely as an observer and supporter of the student award was Vija Zuntaka Bērziņa.

A sincere thank you to all the students for their creative and thoughtful proposals, and to the World Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art for their trust and for providing the opportunity to work on a meaningful real-world project.
