RISEBA Students Visit the World Latvian Art Centre in Cēsis as Part of the “Interior Design” Course

On 16 February, third-year students of the Bachelor’s study programme “Architecture” at the RISEBA Faculty of Architecture and Design visited Cēsis as part of the study course “Interior Design” to explore the premises and development plans of the World Latvian Art Centre (PLMC).

During the visit, students participated in a guided tour led by the centre’s representatives, attended an informative lecture about the mission and activities of PLMC, and conducted on-site measurements and a situational analysis of the spaces. The aim of the study assignment is to develop proposals for the spatial and functional development of the centre, based on the institution’s real needs.

As part of the process, students analysed the centre’s existing functions – exhibition halls, the entrance area, archive spaces, and auxiliary rooms and identified potential improvements. These include solutions for collection storage, the development of public and educational spaces, and the organisation of visitor flows.

This type of practical collaboration with a cultural institution strengthens students’ professional skills and allows them to combine theoretical knowledge with real design experience, while also fostering dialogue between academia and cultural institutions.
