RISEBA Shapes Future Leaders: Erasmus+ BIP “Impact Lab” Generates 5 New Social Business Ideas

Throughout the week, participants engaged in a series of interactive activities, including a Design Thinking workshop, a Creativity and Project Management session, and lectures on digital marketing tools and productivity improvement. The agenda also included a keynote speech by the Social Entrepreneurship Association of Latvia (SEAL), as well as teamwork sessions dedicated to developing, testing, and refining social business ideas.

During the visit to the social enterprise “Constellation”, participants were introduced to one of Latvia’s most successful social enterprises. This experience strengthened group cohesion and encouraged creativity through technology and innovative approaches.

The event concluded with a visit to Riga Castle, offering participants the opportunity to experience an important part of Latvia’s history and national pride, as well as explore the beauty of the Old Town’s cultural heritage.

As a results of participation in BIP, international teams developed five social entrepreneurship ideas:

  1. Team BLUE FORTUNA
    • Problem: Limited market access and waste of local agricultural produce.
    • Goal: Connecting farmers to markets, knowledge, and income.
    • Social Idea: A mobile application linking farmers with local markets, restaurants, and small enterprises to promote local food consumption and reduce waste.
    • Social Impact: Strengthens local economies, supports sustainable agriculture, and reduces food loss.
  2. Team LEVEL
    • Problem: High cost and limited access to advanced prosthetics.
    • Goal: Empowering people with disabilities through affordable technology.
    • Social Idea: Affordable, modular robotic prosthetics using 3D printing and community reintegration programs.
    • Social Impact: Restores independence, dignity, and active participation in society.
  3. Team NEIGHBOURS
    • Problem: Students struggle to find affordable, healthy, and quick meals while lacking cultural connection between Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia.
    • Goal: Promote shared culture through food.
    • Social Idea: A “food bus” combining flavors and stories from three countries — a place to eat, connect, and learn about shared traditions.
    • Social Impact: Builds cultural awareness, strengthens friendships, and inspires pride in local heritage.
  4. Team SOUR JEWELS
    • Problem: Massive food waste due to imperfect fruits and vegetables.
    • Goal: Reduce food waste and promote sustainable consumption.
    • Social Idea: Collecting imperfect produce from supermarkets and turning it into healthy smoothies.
    • Social Impact: Supports SDG 12, raises awareness about sustainability, and encourages responsible consumption.
  5. Team SIUUU
    • Problem: Lack of motivation and accessible tools to encourage physical activity.
    • Goal: Promote an active lifestyle through technology and community engagement.
    • Social Idea: A mobile app for tracking sports activities, exploring scenic locations, and networking with other users.
    • Social Impact: Promotes health, social connection, and active leisure for communities.
