Honorary Professor title awarded to Anatolijs Prohorovs

We are especially pleased to highlight that the title of Honorary Professor (Honoris Causa) has been awarded to Anatolijs Prohorovs – one of the most active business angels in Latvia – for his outstanding achievements in entrepreneurship and his significant contribution to the development of RISEBA.

Professor Prohorovs exemplifies the essence of RISEBA: shaping leaders, entrepreneurs and professional managers who are able to connect the academic world with real business practice. His contribution to supporting start-ups, developing the venture capital sector and advancing education in Latvia makes him an exceptional role model for RISEBA students and the academic community.

Anatolijs Prohorovs is one of the most prominent business angels in Latvia, investing in innovative companies with high growth potential. He has been involved in numerous successful projects that have helped start-ups attract international funding and reach new stages of development.

He has been repeatedly recognised with the title of “Investor of the Year” (six awards) and, in 2023, received the Signet Bank special award for lifetime achievement in the venture capital industry. Prohorovs served as a board member of the Latvian Private and Venture Capital Association (LVCA) from 2011 to 2017, promoting industry growth and investment in Latvia, and was elected Vice-Chairman of the Board of LatBAN (Latvian Business Angel Network) from 2020 to 2021. He remains an active member of LatBAN to this day.

These appointments and honours reaffirm RISEBA’s mission to strengthen academic excellence and create an environment where science, creativity and entrepreneurship meet.
